ASPRA Vs LEna platonos - Kymata/ MArkos (Digital Single)

Lena Platonos collaborates with Sophie from Marsheaux in a single that puts female electronic pop sensibility back on the map

The Waves is a song written by Sophie Sarigiannidou based on the minimal wave style of the 80s. Sophie in her solo artistic career records as Aspra. Waves is a tense song like a sonic phantasmagoria consisting of a barrage of projections in the tradition of iconoclastic lyricism of the modernist era. The modernism in Waves sounds like a memory from the future. Waves become shells that leave gifts… Drunkenness has taken them and they run.

The single also features Markos, Lena Platonos‘ classic masterpiece from her 1985 album Gallop, with French lyrics written by Stéphane Jounot, the French maestro of new electronic pop who made a career as Lacquer before moving permanently to Athens four years ago. The lyrics of the French version of Marcos closely follow the Greek lyrics of Plato’s, a shocking, sad masterpiece – a denunciation of social hypocrisy. Sophie performs the lyrics in narrative prose style against a fairy-tale soundtrack that is anything but sweet in its essence.
